Teaching Kids to Talk About Feelings
This is a series that will meet once a week for 4 weeks. Each week a new craft will be taught that incorporates coping skills. By the end of the series each child will have 4 different fun crafts and have 4 new coping skills or reenforced coping skills they already have “in their toolbox”. The activities will be led by Shannon Millan, LAPC, NCC who is a therapist in town that specializes in working with children,

Shannon received her Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from The University of Alabama. She did her internship in Athens, GA and has continued her career here in The Classic City. Shannon has worked primarily with elementary school aged clients, including providing counseling services in a local elementary school. She has worked in a variety of settings ranging from an intensive residential program to a local counseling practice.
She incorporates creativity, play, and art into her therapy techniques in her work with children to help them increase their skills to work through their current issues. Shannon takes a client centered, solution focused approach where she collaborates with her clients to increase their coping skills.
